Science in the U.S.A

New York & Boston were the destinations for 19 Physical Sciences students for an amazing six night stay during the Easter Break.

USA 2013

Inspirational tours of both Columbia and Harvard Universities, an ‘Out of this World’ programme at the New York Science Museum along with a robotics workshop at MIT Boston kept the students enthused, amused and busy, but of course there was plenty of time to be tourists too!

As always, student behaviour was exceptional and all did an amazing job of representing Winstanley College in the USA. Student feedback about the trip was fantastic – a once in a life time experience.

Day 1: Lower Manhattan – Brooklyn Bridge, 9/11 Memorial, Wall Street, Harbour Cruise to view the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Pier 17 shopping, meal in ‘Little Italy’ then an evening atop the Empire State Building.

Day 2: Upper Manhattan – Columbia University, Central Park, Times Square, Macy’s Department Store. The evening was spent back in Times Square at the Hard Rock Café, celebrating Jade Cant’s 17th birthday in style!

Day 3: New York Science Museum, Bloomingdale’s (for those little brown bags!), travel to Boston.

Day 4: Harvard University, Quincy Market, Prudential Skywalk.

Day 5: MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Museum for a workshop in robotics, followed by a visit to the MIT campus. Meal at Maggiano’s Italian Restaurant, followed by The Blue Man Group show at Boston Theatre.
