The Young Enterprise Company Programme
Have you ever wanted to put a great idea into practice? Would you like to see this idea make a profit which you can keep or re-invest? Do you want to meet new people and gain advice from very high quality local entrepreneurs? Do you want to greatly improve your C.V and employability? Would you like the opportunity to have a £2000 start up fund to set up your own business? If you are thinking “yes” to any of these then come along and find out more.
We have a great track record of getting Winstanley students to the prestigious Regional and the National Final. Either come along to the enrichment fair or see Kevin Ayre or any member of the Business department in the office between B7 and B8.
The Student Investor Challenge
Another prestigious competition is the student Investor challenge. You are given a fictional £100,000 and you play a virtual stock market over 4 months. This provides you with more detailed knowledge of financial markets and more mature attitudes to risk taking, and the idea of what business people call “opportunity cost”.
If you would like a career in finance this would be a good start and if you win the whole tournament you win an all expenses paid trip to New York!
Business and Economics London Trip
If you want to find out more about the Bank of England, see an ‘old style’ working stock market, visit the “new” City of London as well as see the sights and visit the theatre then this trip may well be for you. It is likely to take place in March 2013.
More information about all the above at the enrichment fair, or see Kevin Ayre and the Business team.
Europe or USA trip; (subject to demand) we aim to put on an international visit once every two years.· We have tried to run a China trip and are on the look out for cost saving ways to enable us to do this.
Links with dynamic businesses
We offer a range of interesting business style challenges where a team of students go into local companies and work with them to solve problems. You are gaining valuable early management experience and it looks excellent in developing your business career. We also offer factory visits and guests lectures by senior business managers.
Make my first million
In July we are likely to run a fun day with an interactive challenge. You use unseen footage from Dragons Den programmes to make decisions on investment opportunities, developing business skills along the way
All activities are open to all students in Winstanley.
