Conferences & Visits
We will be advertising trips to University conferences held during the year.·
The conferences we have attended in the past have included:
The day includes a series of lectures and presentations on such topics as Immigration in Spain, the Environment, Language and Culture, Translation, Languages and Careers and Spanish television.
A day at Manchester Metropolitan University includes a range of presentations and talks in French on As and A2 topics such as Tourism, Media and Immigration.
The Cornerhouse Cinema
Keep your eyes peeled for a visit to Manchester to see a film in French, German or Spanish. In the past we have seen these films:
Courses and careers in languages
Every year we invite a guest speaker to come and talk to students about Degree courses and careers featuring languages.
Look out for posters in the department advertising this year’s event.

French is in B15 and Spanish is in B10.
Study Visit to Spain
This year we will be taking a seven day educational visit to the south of Spain where students will combine languages classes at a local languages school with cultural activities and excursions.
The trip will take place just before Easter and the group will meet at Manchester airport to fly to Málaga. Half board accommodation is provided in the Hotel Los Patos in Benalmádena.
A typical itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: flight to Málaga, transfer to hotel. Free time and evening meal.
Day 2: Full day excursion to Sevilla; sightseeing, a boat trip and visits to the cathedral and the alcázar.
Day 3: language classes in the morning and a trip to Marbella and Puerto Banus in the afternoon.
Day 4:· language classes in the morning and a visit to Nerja and Frigiliana in the afternoon.
Day 5: language classes in the morning and a trip to Ronda in the afternoon.
Day 6: a full day excursion to Córdoba; sightseeing and visit to the Mezquita·
Day 7: full day excursion to Granada with a visit to the Alhambra.
Day 8: free time and return journey
The Society will arrange a wide variety of events during the year, from films to talks and from music to a tapas lunch. Keep your eye on the noticeboard outside B10.
Work experience abroad
The company Halsbury will be coming in to do a presentation early in the college year to encourage you to spend some time in your holidays improving your language skills by undertaking a work placement abroad.
